English born and raised, Kathryn Stanley-Hart now lives in Perth, Western Australia, where she is a professional artist working in a distinctive naïve expressionist style.

As well as being a practicing artist, she coaches on what she calls “creative fitness”: helping others to free up their creativity, lose any constraints that may be hindering them, and allow themselves to be open to the process.

Kathryn began painting when she was very young and, after moving to Perth, studied art and design at TAFE.
She has steadily refined her style over the years and now works with a more intuitive approach. Today, Kathryn feels her niche is in creating her original village scenes – and while some of them are clearly from specific locations, they are most often streetscapes of her imagination that could be in any city in the world.

Kathryn prefers to work in acrylics and mixed media on canvas. She begins by setting down layers of paint in wild colours and working intuitively from there, using a broad range of strokes with the brush and the palette knife, building up complex levels of texture.

She feels that each village scene has a story to tell, and because of her distinctive technique, each is unique, original, quirky, and different. Her many clients are quick to tell her that her artworks bring joy to their entire households. Others tell her that her paintings remind them of the work of 20th-century UK artist L.S. Lowry, who is famous for his equally distinctive naïve urban landscapes.

Kathryn has successfully shown her paintings in many art exhibitions and galleries (see list below). She has lots of loyal fans and her works feature in many private collections. She also accepts commissions.
